Live. Love. Leap. Laugh.

This post is about a special little dog in my life.

My Leapazoid.

I don’t only get to share my life everyday with this special girl. I get to run and train her in our favorite sport. Agility.

There is something special about Leap. She has the “it” factor. I often joke she could run circles around an agility course taking the same obstacle 15 times and totally ignoring whats correct but still have the biggest fan club. She has complete and utter joy for everything she does. You can see it just watching her walk. In fact she can find friends and new fans just by walking.

She makes me laugh daily. She can run into the sliding glass door 3 times in a week and still not slow down enough to look. Nothing phases her. She can learn a new trick in record time. Then proceeds to offer that trick every chance she gets. She will work for a hug, kiss, pet, praise, treat, toy, or laugh!

I can’t really describe what it feels like to run her in agility. No, we may never get past Open Standard and we may never Q again in anything! I may never figure out how to consistently get a clean run with her. That doesn’t change the fact that I can’t help but smile at all she does on course though.

I always call Leap’s theme song “Don’t Rain on my Parade” from Funny Girl.

Don’t tell me not to live,
Just sit and putter,
Life’s candy and the sun’s
A ball of butter.
Don’t bring around a cloud
To rain on my parade!
Don’t tell me not to fly–
I’ve simply got to.
If someone takes a spill,
It’s me and not you.
Who told you you’re allowed
To rain on my parade!

She doesn’t let anything get her down. She lives with enthusiasm for life and for the fun she finds in it.

When I first got her. I had a hard time. I couldn’t connect with her. I was so attached to Skye and when he had trouble with her. So did I. Let me tell you though. Leap won’t let you leave her out. She will wiggle her way right in and say “I’m here… now love me as I love you”. Which is with total commitment and no limits.

And up until now I have sworn to myself
That I’m content with loneliness.

Because none of it was ever worth the risk.

Well you are the only exception.
You are the only exception.

She is my only exception. I will never own another dog like Leap. She is a one and only. I am thankful for her being in my life everyday. Not just for what we may or may not do in agility. Because of what she has given me in my everyday life. That part just translates over to what we do in agility. Joy. Pure Joy. In Everything.

She is my Leapazoid. Leapster. Leap Frog. Snuggle Bug. Leapy. Footprints on the Moon. Leap.

Thanks for the ride so far baby girl! Here is to many many more years! Can’t believe 1 month from today you will be FOUR!

(Note: Sometime I will write a post like this about Skye. I will have some moment that will make me want too. Today, it was my special girl though that I needed to write about)
